Poster Preparation Guidelines

A poster should be self-contained and self-explanatory, enabling viewers to engage with the content independently. This allows the presenter to focus on clarifying or discussing specific points as questions arise. Presentations should be clear and concise, combining text and visuals to enhance understanding. Unlike slide presentations, where the speaker controls the pacing, the viewer determines how much time is spent at each poster—so clarity and visual appeal are essential.

  • Format: Posters must be submitted in digital PDF format.
  • Content Requirements:

      • Results & Conclusions
      • References
    • All graphs, pictures, and tables must be legible and include appropriate captions.
  • Design and Layout:

Oral Communication Guidelines

Oral communications should be clear, well-structured, and delivered within the allotted time, leaving time for questions at the end. Presenters are encouraged to organise their talk into key sections—introduction, methods, results, and conclusions—highlighting essential points and using simple, visually engaging slides. Delivery should be confident and appropriately paced, avoiding reading from slides. Presentations must be submitted in advance and tested for compatibility. Time will be allocated for questions, so speakers should be prepared to respond concisely and professionally.

  • Format: There is no specific template required for oral presentations.
  • Submission: A digital copy of the presentation must be:
    • Submitted via the corresponding submission form at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled presentation time ordelivered in person at the Helpdesk.
    • Ensure compatibility (e.g., PowerPoint or PDF) and test media (videos, animations) in advance if used.
